# API text to speech with consent

Typecast has the lowest entry price in this set, with paid plans from $5 a month, while Speechma starts at $9 a month and Fish Audio at $15 a month. Each also has a free plan or trial and publishes an API price. None needs a sales call to sign up. What sets them apart is how far each goes to check that a cloned voice may be used.

Fish Audio asks the most. For a professional clone you record a spoken prompt that is matched against your uploads, or you upload authorization documents for staff review. You also tick a permission declaration before release. Typecast asks you to confirm the voice is yours or licensed when you upload a sample, and the clone stays private instead of joining its library. Speechma's AI Voice & Cloning Policy requires the speaker's specific informed permission and bans celebrity and public-figure clones.

Fish Audio says it offers a long-form studio, suited to audiobooks and character voices. Typecast says it adds emotion controls, aimed at narrated video and courses. Speechma says its free browser studio needs no account, and it also offers dubbing and transcription.

| Name | What it is | Why it's here | Pricing | API |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Fish Audio](https://dubsheet.com/fish-audio.md) | Expressive text-to-speech, voice cloning and long-form studio with a credit-metered API. | Pay-as-you-go API access with REST and WebSocket endpoints and Python and JavaScript SDKs puts Fish Audio here, alongside the strictest voice check of the three. Paid plans start at $15 a month, the highest entry here. It handles long scripts and chapters, but it does no video dubbing, and captions and subtitles are only partly covered. | Free, then $15 a month | Yes |
| [Speechma](https://dubsheet.com/speechma.md) | Free text to speech and creator audio tools with no account or credit card. | Speechma's documented REST API hands out an instant key and returns MP3 from more than 1,000 voices, with paid plans from $9 a month. A buyer gives up verification: its policy demands the speaker's informed permission, but no proof is uploaded or verified when you generate. There are no team seats and no lip sync either. | Free, then $9 a month | Yes |
| [Typecast](https://dubsheet.com/typecast.md) | Expressive AI voice generator with emotion controls, voice cloning and a developer speech API. | Typecast sells its speech API on its own plans, with official software kits for a dozen languages and a command line tool. At $5 a month, its paid entry is the lowest here. Its consent check is lighter than Fish Audio's, and long scripts and chapters are only partly supported. | Free, then $5 a month | Yes |

## What it takes to be on this list

Each product here does two things. Your own software can generate speech from it through an API, and it requires that a cloned voice is yours or that its owner agreed. The rest of the category does one of these at most. The three appear A to Z by name. Before buying, check which plan carries the API: Speechma sells it apart from its free website, and Fish Audio's docs and plan FAQ disagree on whether a subscription is needed. Then check what proof is asked at upload, if any.
